Although Felicia “Snoop” Pearson shares a name, a similar background, and a butch gender presentation with her acclaimed character on the television show The Wire, her own story is (blessedly) devoid of nail guns. After a second degree murder conviction she had a difficult time locating work due to her felony record, but landed her first acting role after a chance encounter in a bar with an actor on The Wire. Soon after she published a memoir detailing her childhood and time in prison. Following the conclusion of the show’s run she experienced difficulties finding further acting work due to a dearth of roles fitting her demographic profile, and was arrested for allegedly selling heroin. At the time of this posting she has been released on parole and is back in front of a camera.
